How we diagnose and quote, what you can hold us to, and the work we turn down — which is a longer list than most contractors publish.
How we work
Look, price, then do the work.
We are a small licensed HVAC contractor in Thousand Oaks, working on houses across the Conejo Valley with a light commercial side along the boulevard.
Everything starts with looking. On a repair that means a flat diagnostic fee and a technician who takes readings before offering an opinion, credited against the work if you go ahead. On a replacement it means an hour in the building: the floor plan, which walls take the afternoon, the attic, the duct, the vents and the panel.
Then the quote, in writing, with two or three routes on it and equipment and ductwork on separate lines. You are welcome to take it to somebody else. A price that only makes sense while we are standing in your kitchen is not a price.

So that when yours is sound you can see we are not selling you any, and when it is not you can see exactly what ignoring it costs.
We find the leak
A system low on refrigerant is a system that is leaking. We locate it or we tell you the coil is finished. No annual top-up sold as a service.
We check the code, we do not recall it
Wildland-urban interface requirements have been revised more than once. We verify what applies to your address and your scope of work at permit time, and tell you before you choose.
Limits
What we do not do.
We point out most of this and sell none of it. That is exactly why we are worth listening to on it.
- No 24-hour emergency cover. A small shop cannot staff it honestly. The phone is answered from half past seven, and during a heat run we sort the day by who has no cooling at all in an occupied house.
- No home hardening, and no fire-safety assessments. We do vent and ventilation work on the part of the building we are already in. Roof, siding, windows, decking and clearance belong to other trades.
- No duct cleaning as a product, no ozone generators, no in-duct gadgets sold as filtration. If filtration is undersized, fixing the filtration is the fix.
- No savings percentages, payback periods or air-quality figures. Not for a heat pump, not for duct sealing, not for filtration. We cannot know them and neither can anyone quoting you one.
- No roofing, no solar, no windows, no shade structures, no electrical panel upgrades. We flag what a job needs and work alongside the trade that holds that licence.
- No zoning where the house will not support it. We have talked people out of it more than once, and we will explain exactly why.

- EPA Section 608 certifiedRequired to handle refrigerant legally. Recovery is done properly on every changeout, including on equipment going to scrap.

- Pulled, and the inspector metChangeouts and vent work are permitted work. An unpermitted install becomes a problem years later, usually during a sale, and in this area it can also become an insurance conversation.
